Connectivity Methods
Click on Local Modem, Internet VPN, or Pass-Through Systems,
to specify how the local HMC connects to remote support.
- Local Modem
- Allows you to configure the local modem that connects to
remote support from the local HMC.
- Internet VPN
- Allows you to configure the use of a VPN over an existing Internet connection to connect from the
- local HMC to remote support.
- Pass-Through Systems
- Allows you to enable the HMC to use the Pass-Through Systems as
configured by the
- TCP/IP address or host name.
Pass-Through systems use modems or VPNs that exist on a designated
system to connect to remote support.
For example, an OS/400 operating system can be configured as
a pass-through system to allow the HMC to
use a modem or VPN connection it is managing.
